The successful candidate for 2016 Danielle Horwitz Social Justice Award is Ms. Triana Segovia.
Ms. Segovia is involved in human rights education and fund-raising for non profit agencies, including assisting the disadvantaged in her country of ancestry, Mexico. She volunteered during the last federal election and addressed Ottawa parliamentarians with a proposal for a new Parliamentary Bill designed to assist university students with financial needs. Triana has an excellent academic record and will be attending a local university next fall. She also trains horses, works part-time in the film industry, participates in kick-boxing and is developing as an artist and a photographer.
Triana, in attendance with her Mom and her teachers, will be receiving the 2016 Danielle Horwitz Social Justice Award at a a ceremony at Vancouver City Hall next month.
